Is @Twitter Pushing out a New Design?

This morning while browsing a few twitter handles I ran into a random profile with a totally different design than what we are used to. Now, I don’t want to be the one complaining about change and wanting to stick to the old and not the new. But, in reality, I really like the current Twitter design.

This new layout that is apparently in test mode seems to only have a header image to play with and no background options. The layout is fluid, which adjusts to screen size, or browser width, however you want to look at it. Don’t get me wrong, we love responsive layouts that adjust to multiple screen sizes. However, the new layout is full width and all of the content fills the screen making it a little busy. Especially on big screens which we are all growing into.

After doing some research  I found that many are calling it a Facebook ripoff. I won’t necessarily go there, since the new layout still keeps unique Twitter features. However, the feed definitely begins to follow Facebook wall style. Another thing about the full width layout is that it lends itself to adding advertisements on the sidebars. That would be a major letdown by Twitter since up until now ads have been pretty much respectful of out feeds and havn’t flooded us with annoyance.

There is much more to say about the new feed but I will let you take a look at it for yourself and share with us what you think about the new design.
